You can not buy this behaviour without happiness! Many discussions amoung pet owners and trainers about which way to train is best. I have been in the dog training business for a long time. It started off somewhat aversive (choke chains), but that was the animal training world at that time. They were animals so we must dominate. Now 25 years later with learning and working with animals....ya nope animals do not walk around thinking about how they can dominate us. Do they want stuff, yup! There are so many ways for them to have those opportunities like their food, toys, beds, play in a postive way. Using force or fear just gets left at the door. Lets put it this way. You do not need to use aversives (force or fear) if you know how positive reinforcement works. This picture is built with positive reinforcement. Is there any punishment? Well yes of course! I take the dog inside the house and our training session ends. I work at figuring out what behaviours I want to build and work at teaching.
